Salzburg “IT LINGERS WITHIN ME FOR A LONG TIME”
Site specific piece mounted on columns around the historic centre of Salzburg. 2006
Site specific piece mounted on columns around the historic centre of Salzburg. This was my second piece for Mozart 2006. The other was the film Finally, 2006, as an installation in the Mirabell gardens. The piece was meant as an insertment of associative poetic texts dealing with belonging and alienation. Within a few days all the elastics were either destroyed or stolen. The documentation is therefore very scarce.
The texts on the elastics were:
OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IN THE CAR, IN THE STREET, ON MY PHONE, ON THE SCREEN. I FEEL LESS SECURE
THE CELL STRUCTURE SLOWLY DISSOLVING, NUTRITION AND WATER BEING EXTRACTED, LEAVING AN EXHAUSTED COLOUR ON THE EDGE OF COLLAPSE, AND SOME STRINGY BITS, TO BE EXCRETED
IT LINGERS WITHIN ME FOR A LONG TIME. YOU GET PICKED LIKE A PIECE OF LETTUCE, SUCKED IN, CRUNCHED, CHEWED UP IN GREEDY BITS AND LEFT TO DISSOLVE IN ORGANIC CHEMICALS
WHEN I SEE THAT SHIRT, I FEEL AT HOME, IT IS THE SAME WITH THOSE SHOES, OR THOSE SOCKS. THEY ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE, AND COST ALMOST THE SAME EVERYWHERE.
BUT HERE THE CODES ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT, YOU COULD SAY THAT IS NICE, — THERE IS A FREEDOM IN THAT. BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS OLD AND TRIBAL, AND THOSE EYES LOOK AT ME ONLY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM MY GAZE
